Core Process Psychotherapy
‘Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?’ Mary Oliver
Marianne Gabriel MA
This quote by the poet Mary Oliver is one of my favourites. It feels like an evocative invitation into that existential question about our lives and what has meaning for us and what constitutes in Joseph Campbell’s words “the rapture of being alive”. Life is often described as a journey involving many twists and turns, challenges and disappointments as well as joys and happiness.
Psychotherapy is one way of discovering who we are and how we can navigate and relate to our life’s experience, as well as cultivate ways to support ourselves in times of crisis and change. Core Process psychotherapy is a form of self-inquiry through the medium of a one to one therapeutic relationship. It is deeply rooted in the practice of mindfulness and inquiry.
Marianne Gabriel is a Core Process Psychotherapist and is working in private practice here in Bandon. She trained in Karuna (www.karuna-institute.co.uk) and has graduated with an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy, awarded by Middlesex University. She works within the ethical guidelines of UKCP. (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy)
